COMMUNICATION & OUTREACH
BEREAVEMENT
COMMITTEE
This new group offers assistance to parish families at the time
of death. There are two programs: a funeral liturgy preparation
which meets with the family to help plan the funeral Mass, and the
support group for those who are dealing with mourning and loss.
To become part of this ministry, contact Pat Menning
at 544-6802 or Mary Ann Prives at 631-7382.
FRIENDLY VISITOR
This new outreach connects parishioners with the parish through
visits and phone calls, to offer peace of mind and opportunities
to involve those who might otherwise be unable to participate regularly
in parish life. You can spend as much as or little time as you have
available. For information contact Marilyn Price at
843-3570, ext.21.
MARTHAS
A group of caring volunteers that assists families in times of great
sorrow by preparing and serving luncheons for families after a funeral.
They give of their time and talent at a time when families are in
great need. For more information on how to help this ministry in
any way, please call Peggy Milford at 849-2505.
PARISH NEWSLETTER
The Spirit of Providence Newsletter is published six times per year
and sent to all parishioners. If you have writing or layout or photography
talents and would like to assist in this effort to provide good
parish communication, contact Joe Dunne at 843-2563.
PARISH NURSE
Marilyn Price, RN is a member of the parish staff
who coordinates programs and services that improve the spiritual,
emotional, and physical health of all parishioners. If you have
a background in health care, or enjoy helping people, Jan can find
a job for you in the new and expanding ministry. For
information call her at 843-3570, ext. 21.
REACH OUT SHARING PROGRAM
Reach Out is a monthly program that occurs on the first full weekend
of each month. Members of the community are asked to share of their
time and treasure by donating food and cash, and by periodically
delivering the donations to Sts. Teresa and Bridget parish. Special
collections that take place during the year include a sock and underwear
collection for Valentine’s Day, a Birthright collection for
newborns in Lent, school supplies in September, a turkey collection
at Thanksgiving, and a toy drive at Christmas. This is a regular
opportunity for all to do as Jesus asks and to give to the least
among us. If you would like to volunteer in any way, please call
Mary Vieth at 849-0489 or Maureen Hamtil at 843-8191.
ST. PATRICK CASSEROLE PROGRAM
By means of this archdiocesan-wide program, parish volunteers supply
between 35 and 40 casseroles each month at St. Patrick Center. Salad
and cookies complete these meals for the needy. These selfless individuals,
using their time and talent, act as Christ’s hands in the
world and remind us that no kind deed, however small, goes unnoticed
by the Lord. For information on how to contribute a casserole, please
call Jim Young at 843-3932 or Tracey Stanton at 843-8831.
ST. VINCENT DE PAUL SOCIETY
An international organization for lay persons who seek, in a spirit
of justice and charity, and by person-to-person involvement, to
help those in need. This selfless group, which is stewardship in
action, follows Jesus’ directive that whatever we do for the
least of his people we do for him. For more information on how to
help others through this excellent ministry, please call the parish
office at 843-3570.
WELCOMING COMMITTEE
This committee is being formed to invite newcomers to become active
in parish life and become connected with other parishioners. They
are developing information packets for both potential school families,
as well as all age groups, which they can personally deliver to
our new members. If you enjoy making friends and meeting new people,
then this is the committee for you. To find out more contact Lisa
Wild at 849-4737.
