JOHN 15 YOUTH MINISTRY
|YOUTH MINISTRY NIGHTS
Three times a month all high school students are invited to meet for a couple hours following 5:30 Mass, and participate in a variety of activities. Such activities may include a movie discussion night, a night dedicated to the rosary, a pro-life night, a night on social media, a vocation specific theme, a night in adoration, praise and worship concert night, different active games, and more. The purpose of these meetings is to provide the teens with a safe environment to develop their relationship with God, and others.
THE MARCH FOR LIFE
Every January, on the anniversary of the Roe v. Wade decision, groups from across the country unite for a March in Washington D.C. This is a chance for teens to see people of all ages uniting to stand strong in social activism against the great holocaust of abortion. The purpose of this trip is to mold teens into Catholic adults who are willing to stand up for the weakest of the weak. | Download 2013 registration form >>> (Registration form to be returned to OLP no later than October 9th)
Luke 18 is an annual weekend retreat for 8th graders to be welcomed into the youth group and the youth ministry program. High school students assist in leading the retreat, by giving talks, leading small group sessions, and serving as role models for younger teens. The high school Team also helps prepare the retreat during periodic meetings for over a month. This is an opportunity for older teens to begin to take on leadership roles within the Church, and for younger teens to take steps toward developing their faith as young adults.
Every July thousands of teens come together and unite for the Steubenville Midwest Conference. This is a unique opportunity for teens to see youth groups from around the country come together for music, prayer, talks, adoration, and Holy Mass. Annually, the Steubenville Conference helps to light the fire in the teens that youth ministry strives to keep burning all year, and inspires many of them to consider religious vocations, commit to a life of chastity, and dedicate themselves to prayer and the sacraments. The purpose of attending this conference is to strengthen the faith of the teens through their interaction with Christ and thousands of other teens.
WEEKLY YOUTH MASS
Sunday nights at 5:30 pm Mass, teens are encouraged to serve as lectors, ushers, musicians, and altar servers to grow in faith and better understand the sacrament of the Eucharist through active participation in Holy Mass.
