Cafeteria Shows Our Student Creations |
| |

All O.L.P. students contributed to the four pieces of art now hanging as a permanent fixture in the school cafeteria.
These pieces are unique, as they were created solely by the hands of our students. The kindergarteners created Circles in the style of Wassilly Kandinsky. The first-eighth graders worked on portraits of Our Lady of Providence and Mother Theodore Guerin (founder of the order of the Sisters of Providence). The students worked in the method used by artist Chuck Close. A large image was cut into squares and each student reproduced their square from the grid. The final image was not revealed until all the pieces were assembled! Please come by the cafeteria and see these beautiful works of art!!
Thank you to Mrs. Wollaeger for creating and overseeing this project. |

VISITING ARTIST |
| |
The O.L.P. fourth, fifth, and eighth graders were recently treated to an interactive presentation by Julie Malone.
Ms. Malone is an established local artist who currently owns her own art gallery in St. Louis city. She explained the essence of neo-impressionism to the students and compared the technique to the more familiar realism style. While she spoke with the students, she demonstrated step-by-step techniques for creating an oil painting. She also gave hints on how to express your emotions through the use of color and shape.

PINWHEELS FOR PEACE
Imagine… millions of pinwheels spinning in the wind – pinwheels in the United States, Great Britain, South America,... and Crestwood Missouri; pinwheels all over the world! – colorful pinwheels, decorated with drawings, paintings, collages, photographs – pinwheels with words of peace and harmony written on them – fields of pinwheels, pinwheels along roadsides, in schoolyards, in parks, pinwheels EVERYWHERE! Our Lady of Providence joined in the world wide celebration in September. Our kids created and displayed there designs in front of the school.
