Philosophy:
"My goal is to assist students and staff in the development
of technology skills to facilitate the learning process in the 21st
Century. In addition, I emphasize with students and staff the appropriate
use of the tools of technology in a responsible manner, both academically
and morally."
I
have a B.S. in Elementary Education from the University of Missouri
– St. Louis with a Lifetime Missouri Teacher Certificate
for Grades K – 8 and an M.S. in Computer Education from
Fontbonne University. My career at OLP began in the fall of 1988
as a volunteer teacher’s aide in Kindergarten. During the
past 22 years, I have been a long term substitute and a half day
teacher in Kindergarten, a half day 2nd Grade teacher, a teacher’s
aide in 3rd Grade, and a half time Technology Coordinator. Since
2003 I have been the full time Technology Coordinator while also
continuing to teach Kindergarten Religion. During the present school year, my position was cut to four days a week. I see all the students K-8 twice a week for Enrichment with Technology and continue to teach Kindergarten Religion.
I am involved in planning, trouble shooting and helping facilitate
the use of technology by students, faculty and staff, who, along
with the parents, make the OLP community a wonderful learning
and living environment. I have enjoyed helping the children develop
technology skills through the years and am often amazed at their
progress. I work to keep up my own skills and try to stay ahead
of the students, although there are times when they teach me new
technology tricks.
